Play&Sound
Theme:This week's theme, sound. It's abstract, after all, we're not music majors, but visuals. So making sound visual has become my inspiration.
Context:When I was a kid I used to see the sound waves on my mom's music playing software and was fascinated that those colored bars would undulate and dance to the music and I would keep staring at it. Now that I think about it this is the visualization of sound, but this is an electronic software effect that belongs to the programmed, so can the use of can see the sound in the real world? I noticed the sound vibrating on the desk, but it didn't make any artistic sense, so I started thinking about what could make it vibrate. I tried paper but it was not aesthetically pleasing, so I searched the Internet and saw an elementary school children's science experiment where the vibration of the stereo drove the lens to reflect sunlight on the wall, which would appear as a flashing spot of light. I followed the video and made this device, but I found that the light spots were not very obvious, but if I used a laser pen it would be obvious and look better. So this work was born.

Reflection:This week's assignment is the most interesting assignment I have ever done, I always like listening to music, and music-related assignments make me more enjoyable (for small personal reasons). After watching those examples, I felt that my imagination was limited. During this theme exploration, I learned to think about the theme from different perspectives, for example, sound is not necessarily invisible, and some very visual things may be abstracted. This has been a great inspiration for me to understand a theme, and I believe it will open my mind to a wider understanding of the theme later on. I think understanding the theme and exploring an art form to express it is the most difficult thing in ADP. In each new week's theme, ADP always brings me different thinking and new ideas, Matt shares a lot of strange but creative artworks to us, and also shows me more art forms to interpret a theme. Before, I always struggled with both animation and drawing to complete creative assignments, such as CPS, but during this semester, I tried a lot of interactive installations, although they were very simple and handmade, but with technical support and learning afterwards, I think I will develop more in the direction of interactive media, ADP really enhanced my interest in interactive media, but I lacked some skills to complete it. ADP did enhance my interest in interactive media, but I lacked some skills to complete it, so I will improve my skills afterwards to perfect and support my love and experimentation with interactive media. It was enjoyable to be in this assignment. Carrying out new thinking is a very good way for self-improvement and makes my learning more fulfilling. In every hands-on exercise, I was amazed at how ordinary things around me can create art forms and express some emotions. Just mirrors, stereos and paper cups that can be found everywhere can be made. This assignment also gave me another inspiration, that is, some simple scientific reasoning and research may also be extended to create the art form we need, which is to some extent also help us to complete the technical support of art. In fact, science and art art are interconnected, Leonardo da Vinci was both a great artist and a clever scientist, and many artistic inspirations burst out from science. I think in the future I will focus more on scientific research and small scientific experiments, which bring me infinite possibilities of my art form.We always ignore what we have learned in our past lives, but ADP makes us think of new forms to interpret the topic every week without stopping, which allows us to brainstorm and better use the knowledge we have, which is one of the reasons I really like ADP.
