ADP Week4-Play and Place

Theme:
In response to the theme of play and place, I made a simple model for my special place - a rocky beach. It can let waves can play 'Rock-paper-scissors' with human.

Context:
The first place I thought of is beach when I saw this theme, it remands me of my childhood. I was born and grow up in a small island, the beach and sea is my playground. I can pick up shells on the beach, catch some small crabs or jump down from the dock, but one of my favorite games is to stand in the sea and play with the waves. When the huge waves hit from a distance, I need to jump as high as possible to keep it from passing my head. Sometimes waves wins, sometimes I win. It's really a wonderful feeling. It seems that the sea is no longer an emotionless object or a force of nature. It has become a friend and competitor playing with me.
From this, I want to create some stuff can give me similar experience. 'Rock-paper-scissors' is a typical game. It's simple but competitive. It's perfect for my theme. So the first idea of my little toy was born.
I also got some inspiration from 'Animism', It believes that objects, places, and creatures all possess a distinct spiritual essence. Many ancient religions can be regarded as the embodiment of this theory, including the custom of worshipping the sea god in my hometown.(https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Animism)
I believe from this point, maybe we can give 'the place' more vitality, no matter use what kind of format(Architecture, device, game,etc)

Method:
Make the model
Go to a seaside park not far from my home
Play ' stone scissors paper‘ with the waves
Record and edit videos

Reflection:
I made some mistakes when I making the model, It's obvious I should add a heavier base for this model. And I also didn't consider about waves can wash away the icons for 'Rock-paper-scissors'.
I also have some new ideas (but I don't have enough time), such as increasing the number of devices interacting with the waves and using digital technology to make the sea speak or sing by itself. I hope I can developed it further in the future
