Master Of Animation, Games & Interactivity

Context: This week’s theme was abstractism, and while I don’t entirely understand abstract art as a genre, I enjoyed exploring it. My work was inspired by how artist Njideka Akunyili Crosby (http://www.njidekaakunyilicrosby.com) uses elements of her home, Nigeria, in her work and artist Jordan Nassar (http://www.jordannassar.com/works) who uses traditional Palestinian embroidery as a canvas where he then creates images with color instead of traditional patterns.

Method: I traced over a simple embroidery pattern and used it as my canvas for a small abstract animation.

Response: What I enjoyed most about this was that I didn’t have a plan in mind and I just went with what I9 felt was right, which was an interesting experiment as opposed to storyboarding every element that is to be included. I wasn't able to add any music because I did the animation in procreate, however I would love to explore this more and possibly create a full work in the future.
