Theme:
In response to the play and body theme, my brother and I played a 'restricted use of body parts' shooting game
Context:
In a general sense, our body is seen as a complete whole. Especially when playing sports or games, they often require us to use every part of our body flexibly. But when I saw this topic, I recalled a very special personal experience: I injured my ankle for a while in high school, but at that time I was very fond of basketball, so every day after school, I practice shooting with one foot for a while
There is no doubt that change the way I participate in the game, but that experience also prompted me to think about if we can change the rule to help physically challenged people participate in the sports or game. Or improving gaming equipment? game environment?
This requires more in-depth understanding and actual research. At this stage, I dare not say that I have a good idea. In fact, many games have made good explorations, such as barrier-free design of The Last of Us: Part II. They have designed more than 60 auxiliary functions in total, such as custom subtitles and HUD functions designed for people who are deaf or have a hearing loss, and for people with low vision, they design a useful sound system
Method:
set initial rules
play and have fun
Improve the rules in the actual game
Reflection:
A simple but meaningful exploration, the way of playing basketball may be closer to the essence of the game: for fun rather than competition. It also got me thinking about whether I could get more people involved by improving the rules of traditional games or sports. If there is an opportunity in the future, I would love to join such a project.
