3. Stillness

Stillness, the absence of movement or sound. When we hear the word “stillness” we immediately think of it as the opposite of movement - but stillness is something quite different altogether. Stillness is an energetic quality of being. Stillness is a choice. It can be felt by living in a state of presence where we remain connected to ourselves and are completely present in our body. We are at one with everything, and everyone in all that we do. Life flows with a simple rhythm – the rhythm of our stillness. When I just started this exercise, I was try to looking for stillness. But still, the stillness is always there. In many a piece of music, it's the pause or the rest that gives the piece its beauty and its shape. A writer will often try to include a lot of empty space on the page so that the reader can complete my thoughts and sentences and so that her imagination has room to breathe. bring stillness into the motion and the commotion of the world.

Placidity is everywhere in nature, but absolute stillness – pure quiet and inactivity – is rare. We only perceive its existence because of the sudden change in our state of awareness prior to experiencing sound or action. In other words, we’re not looking closely enough. Any office employee who stops whatever they’re doing at any given moment can immediately hear the hum of their hard drive or the footsteps just around the corner. the awareness of visual movement, something we must deal with and manage, works on the same principle.

I often look out of the window and I love this feeeling. Because it can often bring me temporary relaxation, not constrained by action and leave  some space for my mind. Whether it is crowded streets, or the buildings at night. When I stop to observe the things around me quietly, endless thoughts always flow into my mind without any pressure. On the contrary, it brings a sense of calm and motivation to continue thinking. As we all know, one of the first things you learn when you travel is that nowhere is magical unless you can bring the right eyes to it. I found that the best way that I could develop more attentive and more appreciative eyes was, oddly, by going nowhere, just by sitting still.

This idea suddenly came into my mind at a certain moment. It may have come several times before, but this time it is just the right time to realize this idea. At that time, I was doing my studio 3 work. It was dark outside and I could see the lights were on for RMIT library and building 14. I think this scene is a microcosm of people's life. It not only shows the track of it but the passage of time, and make the senes of the future and the past as we see the lights opened or closed through the windows.

Response :

It's not exactly a work of stillness, because the animation is moving, the sound is moving. The only stillness is me when I shot the video. So in response to the theme, I decided to present the final design as a still picture. Give this a little bit of space, not a continuous, coherent animation. Let the audience experience the beauty of stillness.
