1. Rationale: intention

For my folio 1, I would like to do some pre-production works for animation. I wish I can improve my pre-production skill through the process, like character and environment design, storyboarding, and scriptwriting. Also, if I still have time, I would like to create a 2D animation based on the animatic, but in the first six weeks, I will focus on the pre-production step.

2. Context: Field

The animation will be a character-driven story with some action & comedy, and it will be around 1 to 2 minutes.

3. Method

For this project, Photoshop will become the main production tool for the character, and background design. Also, I will utilize the After effect to do the compositing.

Week 2: character design, script

Week 3: storyboarding

Week 4 & 5: making animatic

Week 6: compositing the animatic with music

5. Outcome

1 to 2 minutes animatic.
