I chose to work on the jumper’s death animation as I felt it needed to be more interesting than simply it flopping to the ground. The initial death animation had the same characteristics as it in life, and the same material properties. I created a second version of this but completely negated the stretchy and floppy motion that the character is known for. Using the only the main body control to animate it falling over and then settling into place.

When combining these, I modified the animation as a whole, using the exact moment of death as a switch between the floppy and hard states – sort of like a spider going stiff after death. I felt that the use of alternate types of motion in a single action, made the overall animation look a lot more interesting and dynamic.
