Master Of Animation, Games & Interactivity

“In response to the week’s theme of forces, I made five short animations that follow four rules that I came up with, using traditional 2d animation techniques.

My rules were:

  1. Use only the FlipaClip phone app to create objects
  2. Use only black, white and / or red
  3. Spend 10 minutes or less on each object
  4. All content should be hand drawn - no geometric shapes                                By creating these boundaries to work within, I was able to create a body of work that shared common themes and style. I wanted to experiment with shape and line, this was enhanced  by limiting the colours to black, white and red as it created strong contrast within the work. Similar themes are present in Marjane Satrapi’s graphic novel Persepolis, in which her unique use of colour and line creates strark contrast and emotion within her work.”
