“In response to the week’s theme of Objects Are Not Exhausted, I made an animated GIF featuring a magazine cover for fish. The idea stemmed from contemplating how fish would perceive fish hooks from their perspective. This led me to the idea of portraying the fish hooks as jewellery for fish. By using a magazine style design, I was able to make fish the centre of the work, rather than humans. This work has a comical, silly tone that is intended to amuse viewers. Similar themes are present in the Winston Hacking’s film clip - Andy Shauf -The Magician, where an animated collage style is also utilised (Hacking 2016).”
