Taniguchi Jiro-Chichi no Koyomi《父之曆》

‘Chichi no koyomi’ is a Japanese comic created by Taniguchi Jiro in 1994.

The story begins with the protagonist ’s father ’s funeral, and the time goes back through the description of friends and family who came to express condolences. Like a jigsaw puzzle, it presents the protagonist ’s father ’s complete image and memories that he ignored during his childhood.

The story of this comic is very similar to the script of my folio2. It also describes the hometown, family, time and memories. I really admire Jiro’s works. In addition to this work, Jiro works with a literary, not literal, but with pictures to make people understand the storyline with manifestations of Yasujiro Ozu's film style.

Although Jiro's works are comics, he often draws landscape scenes. I will refer to his techniques for drawing scenes and way of telling stories by drawing to help me create folio2.
