Dipping back into choreographed movement in 2D animating, I am referencing an Aikido demonstration clip to animate 2 characters fighting.

In aikido, there is an emphasis on circular, winding and flowing movement intended to take an opponent's force of attack and redirect it in another direction, or back onto them.

Keeping this in mind, I am using circles and ovals to shape the movement of the characters. I want the most emphasis of this shape to be on the character being flung to the ground. Ialso have used separate colours for each layer to differentiate between them.

The hardest part of this exercise is learning to animate 2 subjects on separate layers and having them connect and interact. I didn't want to do it all on one layer because from my drawing experience, having different subjects or focal points are always easier to adjust and manipulate separately. I did not rotoscope any of this sequence, and it is still a work in progress.
