Animation:

-Ryan Woodwart 2010, Thought of you, video, YouTube, <https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OBk3ynRbtsw>.

This animation reinterprets a dance in an artistic way, thus producing works that can transcend language, and this animation attempts to reactivate the vitality of 2D animation with dance. This animation is important because it expands the art form of dance and enhances the appreciation of animation. Through understanding the behind-the-scenes production process of this animation, I learned that the dance of the whole film is based on the real modern dance. The author animated the dance and added some special effects from the animation. This process inspired me to think about the connection between dance and animation, which are complementary to each other.

In terms of dance movements, the author presents the changes between lovers with fluent dance movements, especially when each movement is perfect. Each movement intuitively shows the character's emotional changes, lying down and pacing when missing the lover. Not only that, the speed of the movement is also changing with the feelings of the characters. These elements are a good reference for how to design the action and the rhythm of the animation.

The overall style of the animation is drawn with pencil and lines. This inspired me to rethink character design, which is what 2D animation originally looked like. More importantly, I think this is the most efficient way for me to make animation at this stage, so that I can focus more on the action of animation itself.

-Glen Keane 2014, Duet, video, youtube, <https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0qnQqXr838E&t=4s>.

This is an excellent animation that weaved dance moves into the storyline. Although the animation is based on lines and monochrome, you can feel the changes of light and shadow through the lines. The brightest part of the character is also the brightest part of the line, so the change makes the character more intelligent. As a result, some changes based on the lines are very important to the character.

-WB kids 2020, Tom& Jerry| Outdoor Adventure| Classic Cartoon Compliation| WB kids, video, youtube, <https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bBlg2zwPyD0&t=53s>.

Art comes from life, and animation art has exaggerated artistic characteristics. These are fully reflected in the Tom and jerry cartoon segment, especially the rhythm of the action. For example, there is a short pause during jerry's fall, which is exaggerated in the animation. This exaggerated design method of action rhythm in the animation art has inspired me a lot, and I apply it to the rotation and jumping of the characters.

Dance choreography:

- Natalianne Boucher 2014, Continuum, video, vimeo, <https://vimeo.com/103992425>.

This is a piece of work combining dance and special effects animation. In this work, the dance is intense and innovative. Since I could not arrange a whole dance, I learned and analyzed the combination of dances in this animation. I borrowed some movements from this dance, such as jumping, spinning, standing up, and so on, and adapted them. This work has provided me with a lot of help about professional movements in dance.

-TPD Dance& Flim (2019), A-LIN 有一種悲傷 |舞蹈版 Regent Choreography,video, youtube.

In this dance, there are mainly some relatively basic movements, which make my choreography in animation more flexible, especially in the connection of some professional dance movements. This dance can provide a good reference for me.
