Master Of Animation, Games & Interactivity

This week, I experimented with Godot and created a 3D room, explored different 3D nodes, imported free assets from TurboSquid (textures and rocks as listed below), and imported a terrain editor plugin to manipulate the terrain, as Godot does not have a built-in terrain editor. I also experimented with visual shaders to apply textures and effects to different objects, and manipulated the environmental lighting, and fog. I spent a surprising amount of time hunting down assets that would be compatible with Godot, as it does not officially support .fbx files. Furthermore, getting the actual materials and textures of the 3D model to display properly took a great deal of time, as I had never dealt with 3D assets, textures and materials before.

Assets used:

  • Sand texture by Dosch Design: https://www.turbosquid.com/FullPreview/Index.cfm/ID/935017
  • Stone texture by Igor Yakolev: https://www.turbosquid.com/FullPreview/Index.cfm/ID/554136
  • Rock models by ice kazimhttps://www.turbosquid.com/3d-models/rock-3d-1507126
