1 RATIONALE
To be honest, I am a beginner in the professional field of MAGI. Therefore, in this first five-week studio time, I hope that I can better understand the theory and software practice of this discipline. I will try to spend more time on hand drawing and more reading and watching time. On this basis, I will use hand drawing for frame-by-frame animation.
I am a nightmare person, and often there are some good stories from this. And I think storytelling is important whether you are doing animation or games. So, many times, I tend to add storytelling to some exercises and produce some unexpected sequences. I will continue to refine this section.
The skills of AE and C4D are also the parts I want to improve in studio 1. Although I have the ambition to produce some games, at present it seems that the study of Unity is still a long journey. For this reason, I want to save ideas as flowchart first.
2CONTEXT
My work has sat almost the field of graphic design and creative vision, I love watching and collect works that fit the aesthetics I understand. One of my favourite Industrial Design Studio is Nendo studio whose concept is ‘Giving people a small ‘!’ moment. There are so many small ‘!’ moments hidden in our everyday. Its concept has always influenced me, and I also think that this concept can be applied to all design concepts.
Berlin-based illustrator, graphic designer and author Christoph Niemann took inspiration from everyday objects and co-created a bunch of humorous and concise illustrations. I like his idea very much, "Every time I see an object, I imagine something that has nothing to do with it, the stranger the better. I will stare at it until some picture comes to mind."
In addition, I really like the Japanese cartoonist Katsuhiro Otomo. His Akira manga is like a movie. The rhythm is compact. The creative style of the painter's style has become a masterpiece of the era. He is completely outside the Japanese comics world. In fact, strictly speaking, he is a director, and comics are just sideline work, just like Hayao Miyazaki and Satoshi Kon. The animation of "Akira" has also made many reforms to Japanese animation performances. The most famous is that the taillights of the motorcycle that are galloping at night are stripped of the after-flowing afterimage. It is full of movement, and it is the finishing touch in the contrast of the icy future cyber world. This expression technique is also widely used in the future.
3 METHOD
I think these works I currently do in the studio are tentative work, they stimulate my imagination. The light and shadow atmosphere of the scene is also a part I hope to improve I will use procreate to record all ideas and draw them. In the meantime, I will focus on hand drawing and AE techniques. Find the language of the lens and let these ‘! ‘Get up.
4 PRODUCTION
I will do hand-drawing exercises every day on Procreate, improving own scene-building ability by imitating and grafting real scenes. At the same time, I will focus on AE and C4D tutorials in order to express the intention of creative ideas.
