Master Of Animation, Games & Interactivity

A series of tests to integrate my sprite animations with the jump detection, beat generation and score systems in Unity, where I play through the game as the cymbal, drum, horn and marimba, as well as a full playthrough with all creatures on autoplay.

At the end of Week 10, I decided to start a fresh new Unity project and integrate all the systems again without all the legacy code from my tests and experimentation. To my surprise, most of it worked as planned. After doing this, I feel like I'm more in control of the project.

Other implementations:

  • Added in the sounds and music passed on from my sound designer
  • Coded the characters so they automatically animated when no user is detected, so not all four players are needed to play
  • Got the characters to do a victory dance after song ends
  • Set up a grade system (based on players' score divided by full score)
  • Created visuals for the rhythm component, such as the notes, targets, lanes, etc.
  • Created visuals for the score/grade system, such as the scoresheet and grade stamp
  • Playtested each character to make sure the notes aren't too close together
