Tried the other projection mapping tool within TouchDesigner called KantanMapper again to see if I could get it working. After hours of troubleshooting and searching discussion forums on the TouchDesigner site, KantanMapper is suddenly working again! The video textures are finally showing up in the splices. I'm still unsure what caused the problem in the first place, and how I got it to work all of a sudden.

What's great about KantanMapper compared to Stoner:

  • Allows for multiple splices within one projection (so I can map both book and wall projections in one go) and blend them closer together
  • The projected image as my cursor and visual guides (lines and vertices) so it's easier to map
  • I can do edgeblurs! So the edges don't look so "hard" in the projection.

What's not so great:

  • I made my book glow animation the same colour as the visual guides, which meant it was super hard to see what was a guide and what was the book glow animation =.=
  • I can't seem to figure out how to change the vertices to become cusp points (i.e. the handles move independently to one another), which means it's really hard to get my book projection to look accurate
