Project Plan on Milanote

First, I made a Project Plan on Milanote that I updated as I went along.

I also made a Project Timeline using Toggle where I estimated how much time it would take me to complete each stage of pre-production, production and post-production

Timeline with Toggl Plan

I made a general mood-board of the kind of interactive game I wanted to focus on. From left to Right I considered concepts, styles, colouring book features, and dress up features.

In terms concept I wanted to go with nature being in unusual places, such as waves making up hair and flowers falling out.

For style. I wanted to go for clean lines and flat colour, so that it gives the impression of a colouring book.

References and Inspiration

There are many games in the field of dress up games. These can be divided into different categories depending on style, features, and gameplay.

Games like Pastel Girl, and Lily Story, are simple, both in style and concept, but have lots of customization elements. There are also extra animated elements that you have to pay for. The concept of these games is simply to dress up with no extra frills about story or character.

Games like Love Nikki and Dress Up Diary have dress up as their main focus, but a plot heavy narrative that compels the player forward in chapters, along with gacha like mechanics where the player can spin for more elements with in-game currency a few times every day, coupled with daily rewards, item drops and a whole slew of additional features.

Games like Gachaverse, unsurprisingly focus on a gacha function to gather elements. However, it also has elements of a fighting game and social simulation. The graphics are also animated and pose-able which is easy since the art style is relatively simple.

For my game, I want it to have a simple straight to the point storyline, that has an overt message about wanting to fit in and changing yourself. Dressing up will be the only main game mechanic, but unlike in the pre-existing games, the colouring will depend entirely on the player, even the shadow and linework colour.
