Overall, I’m quite proud of what I produced for this book installation. Looking back, I started this project with no prior experience in projection mapping or installation work. I wasn’t even sure if I could get something up and running. So to watch this video, and to see my vision actually realised, makes me a bit teary-eyed.
Obviously, this achievement isn’t mine alone - I had a lot of help along the way - including really supportive mentors and classmates who were always willing to help and lend a hand. For this, I’m extremely grateful. Credits and special thanks can be found at the end of my video.
In terms of my inquiry, I felt that my installation successfully transformed the humble book and took the user into “another world” - a ghostly world from ancient Japan. Through the light projection of my animations, an excellent soundscape, and the invitation to physically interact, I hope that I’ve successfully taken the user into an otherworldly experience.
