Aim
Explore slightly different gestures for greeting

Rationale
One of the essential animations of my character is greeting. It defines the first impression of the user on the character. Thus, I’d like to experiment with a few slightly different greeting gestures.

Result
I've made version 1 in my last experiment. Then, I found some animations of characters saying “hi” as my references. In “Hi hello song”, the piglet waved its head with a smaller arc. Later in the video, the little sheep and puppy waved their hands with their bodies shaking slightly as well. Hence, I animated version 2 and 3 with reference to that. Also, I watched the animation of Mario say hello but he waved with his fingers bent, straight arm and nodding head which did not feel natural. Thus, I didn’t use it as an animation reference. In the last reference with a bunny waving with its wrist but not arm movement. I incorporated this into my version 4 animation.

Reflection
Personally, I think both version 3 and 4 gives a more welcoming feeling to me and I prefer using them for my animated character. For version 1 and 2, they still look a little bit too boring. I think that might be the reason why the animator made Mario nod his head while saying hi (?)
