Aim
Try to incorporate the conversation and gestures with the facial expressions

Rationale
Last week, I animated the facial expression of the character, but it looked dull with simple facial expressions. Therefore, I would like to enrich the animation with dialogue and corresponding gestures.

Result
Some essential dialogues (“Hi!”, “Nice to meet you!” and “ But we’re trapped in the past”) of the character in the app of my studio projects. For “hi”, I animated the character with a waving hand. For “Nice to meet you!”, the character was animated to jump slightly to express the joyful feeling. For ”but we’re trapped in the past”, the robot bowed its head to show the sadness complementary to the sad facial expression.

Reflection
I found the expression of the character much more lively after adding the body gestures to the corresponding facial expressions. I’ve learnt the importance of body gestures in animation to convey the emotion to the audiences. In the next step, I’ll experiment with slightly different body gestures to express different emotions.
