EXPERIMENT I: work with simple lines/scribbles only
aim: In this task, I tried to simulate the sound of the door switch with lines.
rationale: The lines in the middle of the screen change with the sound. These changes will match the characteristics of the sound at different stages.
method: I draw the sound wav frame by frame and try to simulate different sounds at each stage
out come: I'm happy with the outcome. But the sound and picture of the last scene are difficult to combine. There is a gap in the middle of the audio. I don't know how to use animation to fill it.
EXPERIMENT II: work with simple shapes only
aim: In this task, I tried to simulate the sound of the door switch with shapes.
rationale: When the door lock is opened in the corridor, an echo will be generated around it.
method: Use ghosting graphics to visualize the sounds.
out come: The ghosting shapes looks great. And I think it shows the echo really well.
EXPERIMENT III: work with a combination of lines and shapes.
aim: In this exercise, I tried to use emotion to visualize the sound.
ratonale: I start to think how I felt when I heard the door unlock and closing. Then I thought about my own experience. When I heard the sound of unlocking, I felt very nervous. So I want to express my fellings in this task
method: I use After Effect to make this animation. Because it's easier for me to change the shape of graphic in AE.
outcome: The picture is not rich enough. Unable to convey emotions well.
