Getting a Parallax Effect working to fill out the void on the background of the game was something that I planned mid-semester. After working on the animations and the mechanics on the game for a while, I felt tired of straing at a black background, so I went searching for what can be done about it. That’s when I came across the idea of the parallax effect. I looked like fun to me, so I decided to try it out.

I created a layered background consisting of different images and made them move at different speed in relation to the movement of the character and the camera. I also had those images auto-generate, so the images keep on looping and the player never have to see the black background again. (Click on the GIF to play)

Reflection:
I like how the parallax effect turned out at the end. It moves well with the character and the camera and also is not uncomfortable to look at. The images does tend to repeat a lot, which I plan to fix by creating a variation on those background and keep it interesting, in the future.
