Illusion of Life Week 2 Homework. Part 1.

Project title: TBD
Intention: To showcase my understanding of weight distribution and hone my techniques pertaining to the Principles of Animation.
My needs for the project: Empathizing with my fellow community of practitioners. We all understand that the principles of animation is imperative to the quality of the work and how it universally defines its aesthetic and quality, even if you may not be aware of its concept. A person that can utilize it seamlessly is lauded by the community and appreciated by the general audience.
Define: It is a technique we essentially need for us to not only pursue this field but also to grow and slowly identify your own unique style that makes you distinct. To improve your understanding of the principles of animation is usually an ulterior motive to why you would create a project, but in my case I want to put it in the foreground and make it conspicuous as possible.

Ideate

  • A silhouette of a humanoid character or anthropomorphic features that audience could easily identify and indulge the contents of the animation.
  • The character’s interaction with a box. Mysterious but has sundry characteristics that could all be visualized through its size and composure.
  • A character that enters the scene as droplets of water. They compound together to form a liquified figurine without a bone structure or solid base. It is very malleable and we see its trials and tribulations as he attempts to interact with different objects.
  • A scenery divided by black and white. A character emerges from the black symbiote-esque goop. The black side is a bottomless pit and can conjure up multiple items for the character. The character plays with each one, reacting differently. Throughout the animation he may also conjoin with certain objects or split himself to represent more bizarre concepts while still playing with the theme of weight. The character can also enter the black void where the gravity is different and can oscillate between the two through a portal.

Set of rules that cohere to the project scope:
The animation will loosely correspond to our real world physics despite the objects or characters that are introduced being extraterrestrial.
The characters (of whatever nature they may be) will still behave similarly to humans. They will be able to make incisive decisions. The should have some tact and prowess.
The objects, no matter how outlandish they may be won’t be sentient. Only the characters will be living entities.
