WEEK 1
AIM: To show how movement will impact my future studio project and to show examples of movement I think are comparable/descriptive of what I’m picturing for that project.
METHOD:
Write down a description of my 2 planned project options,
write down a list of their intended emotional tonal keywords,
pin point a list of their moving characters,
moving cameras and moving objects,
spitball potential types of movement for each of those items,
watch through my animation playlist on youtube to find relevant examples of the kind of movements I want that, inspired by those notes.
RESULT:

REFLECTION:
Just because I can roughly pin down what types of movement will be used in the work doesn’t mean I have a good sense of how the psychology of movement design affects my work overall. I’m not sure if I really yet understand what properties of movement design that I want in my work yet, aside from basic storytelling movement like character walks and camera moves. I think this class needs me to think broader, less obviously, I just dont think I’m far enough into the semester to really be at that point yet.
I think getting references from other students on what animations/movements they would associate with the tones I want to capture would really help me get a broader sense of what I could do instead of just thinking vertically and recreating what I’ve seen done in the past.
