Master Of Animation, Games & Interactivity

Guest speaker Stephanie Andrews discussed her journey into non-naturalistic depictions of virtual environments and bending our perception of space.

Andrews provided a variety of example works highlighting her progression towards depicting spacial environments in ways that cause us to re-examine how we navigate and interact with space. This included the application of 3D optical illusions into VR locations and the use of 3D "windows" that function both in front of and behind the "window" itself.

It was interesting to hear the step-by-step progression of how each project informed the goals of the next project, and how Andrews would always try to keep her own "judgement and hand" in her works to prevent it from becoming too objective and "algorithmic".
