Master Of Animation, Games & Interactivity

I completely forgot that Inverse Kinematics existed. Silly me.

Guest speaker Al MacInnes displayed a collection of his animated client work and discussed his relationship between animation and sound design.

Key features of his work included his animations designed for projection with Laservision, such as at Dubai Festival City Mall. It was interesting to hear the behind-the-scenes details of projection works and to learn what components are required in terms of displaying a projection work in a public environment, e.g. water, fog/mist or a physical wall.

MacInnes also touched upon his preference to produce his own audio for his animated works, finding it easier to animate to an existing beat rather than forcing the audio to suit the animation. By working in this manner, he also emphasises the link between audio and visual, highlighting their dependence on one another to create a rhythmically stronger narrative.
