Guest speaker Oscar Raby drew upon historical references as he highlighted the steps that lead to the creation of VR technology.

Ancient knot-recording, quipu, was a method used by the Incas and ancient Andean cultures, which helped to communicate information numerically but wasn't a substitute for storytelling. We have to consider the pros and cons of objective and subjective depictions of reality when creating works, especially in VR. Do we want the audience to be active? To be passive? "It's all about you and what you become" in the VR space.
