This week’s theme is Forces and as a part of the exercise, we were to come up with three laws. The concept behind these laws is to use them to produce a creative output by restricting to a handful of ideas.
I really like the idea of restricting yourself in order to achieve something creative. I believe it presents you with a perfect path to follow. Often, a designer or an artist cannot concentrate on an idea that eventually impacts on the final outcome.
I chose “one shape only”, ”objects have liquid inside”, and “extremely fragile” from all of the laws proposed by the individual students. This combination has a balanced restrictive structure with a small gap to play around the idea of mutability. Sticking to one shape helps me to stay focused. On the other hand, I get to play with the idea of the liquid and the fragility of the object.
I wanted to combine three ideas into one object. The solidity of a definite shape, the flexibility of liquid, and the fragility in an object. Therefore, I chose a cube as a hollow object that is why it is fragile and there is liquid inside.
The aim of this exercise is to animate one cube-roll like dice and the animation will have all of these characteristics.
