Master Of Animation, Games & Interactivity

In response to this week’s theme of ‘Characters and Events’, I used the axolotl character I created in Studio 1 and animated its movement in the water with Adobe Photoshop and Premiere Pro.

By creating this short animation, I tried to show the characteristics of the axolotl. He’s usually quiet and enjoys the water. He does not mind being alone, because often time he is the only one good at swimming in the group. The character can walk on two feet, when he has “human-style interaction” with other characters. He has a special color-changing ability. He changes color when the light in the water changes, which he does not do on land. He likes color changing and exploring different colors.

Similar works to this would be the characters in Disney/ Pixar’s animation, Luca. Luca is a sea monster, very curious about the land life. He becomes a human boy when he leaves the water and has an adventure with his new human friends he meets on land. During his stay on the land, he encounters characters and objects and events that he’d never experienced under water. His interactions and responses to the different environment emphasizes his character of sea monster and his persona.
