Context

This week the theme was presented differently, in that we were given rules to constrain how we made our responses. This led to a more immediate jumping in point with less consideration for context as it has been on previous weeks.

I used this opportunity to make an animation using Toon Boom, a software I have never used before. Considering many modern 2D animated TV shows and films are made using Toon Boom (Futurama, The Simpsons and Spongebob Squarepants are examples of this), I have been wanting to jump into it for quite some time.

The rules I was given for this week were:

  • At least 3 colours
  • Fight with the monster
  • The only tool is banana

Method

I will create a short animation using Toon Boom Harmony following these three rules.

Response

I created an animation that I believe moves quite nicely and I am very happy with, especially considering I had never used this tool before. Ben was very very helpful for teaching me some of the basics on setting up a character rig in Toon Boom.
