Theme: Tinkering as Method

Method: Live Drawing and Clay Sculpting.

Context: Imagination.Drawing Art. Little Mermaid (1989) by Walt Disney Feature Animation. Mermaid Cindy and Dolphin Fish (Mahi-Mahi) by Robert Kline

Response:

"You can do whatever you want" sounds terrific when we adults come to approach anything, but actually, considering when we were children, that was the most thrilling thing to do ever. There were no limitation or boundary or hesitation when it comes to creativity (tinkering), but as we grow up, our minds are shaped by the contexts, rules and influenced by high-tech, which affects the way we generate ideas and do things.

Trying to get rid of the digital tools, I choose drawing and clay sculpting to response to the task: illustration of a mermaid. Just like the way when I was a kid ,failed to express my ideas, and the most effective tools to communicate was to visualise the images. The result turned out is not the impressive as I expected, but I bumped into an idea that I might be able to use later on.
