Week 2

Response

In response to the theme of Tinkering, I produced a linear animation using TV Paint.

By experimenting with different tools and layer modes, as well as experiencing hand-drawn frame-by-frame 2D animation for the first time ever, I showed that TV Paint can be used to create simple animation even without much knowledge. Also, by experimenting with the squash and stretch animation principles, I was able to produce a stronger jump for the character.

After finishing the main character’s animation, I decided to add in some bubbles and ground movement (or lava movement) to the background. They don’t directly affect the animation of the character, but still, provide good practice for me to tinker with the software.

The work of Christopher Cocker (https://opensandwich.wixsite.com/website) is produced using TV Paint as well. He practiced with the software most of the time and posted his work in progress on his Instagram account.
