Theme:

Observation - to observe something you haven’t observed before (for an uncomfortable amount of time)

Context:

The Science of Bubbles - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6-Ub_r_GFZY

An in-depth documentary on the science, nature and properties of bubbles.

Fun With Bubbles - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XxU_QenIO54

A simplified examination of the science, nature and properties bubble.

The Bubbleologist - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GKvT1lRWhE0

A short observation of how bubbles interact with each other before they merge or burst.

Method:

Observe the bubbles in a pool of water and depict their motions as they interact with each other.

Response:

An animated representation of the motion bubbles undertake;

  • as they travel along the surface of water

  • as they merge together and grow

  • as they burst

Observation Findings:

Water Jet Observation 2:

After observing water jets splashing into a pool of water, I realised that while the jets and splashing water capture immediate attention, the final product of the splashing is countless bubbles that form when the jet of water hits the water’s surface.

These bubbles interact with each other by attempting to snap together and grow, with larger bubbles living for longer while smaller bubble burst. All bubbles eventually burst.
