The idea started with the question "What if helmets were supposed to be used as weapons instead of protecting us?".
The investigation started with the old gladiator’s helmets, lot of them had really interesting designs but these designs were done to communicate ideas such as the hero, the bad guy, etc, not to be used essentially as weapons. However, the appearance of these helmets reminds me of the torture devices developed by the inquisition. Terrifying and very creative objects started to appear! As they were crafted in metal, we could say that they were some sort of helmets, but I wanted to make sure that I wasn't the only freak who was planning to injure someone with a helmet, well... a helmet designed to kill.
My research led me to Mr. Albert Bacon Pratt. He designs a helmet which could also be used as a gun or cannon and it'd be fired right from your head, BrooTall! but, the helmet was never created.
Thinking about how I could intervene my bicycle helmet, without destroying it and with the very limited tools and other material that I had, to make it a weapon I started to play around with things that could be plugged on the ventilation grooves of the helmet. I almost poked one of my eyes out so I'm pretty sure it could injure someone.
A rejected idea came from the need to take advantage of a metalhead. I love death metal! So, how could I help anyone without stopping to listening a really brutal tune? I need a Head Bang!
I was going to add something on the top of the head where you will be able to plug in and out lot of different devices such as a hammer, a paint brush, a knife, etc. You will only need to call your metalhead friend, put the helmet on him o her, play a brutal song and plug on top of the helmet the perfect tool for the task that needs to be done.
Again, due to my limitations at the moment I couldn't craft a good model. And of course, this whole idea was a joke.
