THEME
Play and Abstraction
CONTEXT
Contents and meaning usually be considered as the main motivation to create an abstract animation. It can be used icon, symbol or metaphor to convey meaning. What art requires is the display of primitive inner power, and the signpost of abstraction points to this inner depth. There are many artists I can learn from. For example, Piet Mondrian’s creation is to explore pure rhythm from parallel and vertical movement and create the simplest element by simplifying and reducing the expression technique. So, from this perspective, I want to use simple shapes, colors and dynamics to show an inner meaning.
METHOD
I started to plan the rough storyboard, and then, I made this week's response into a 2D animation by Toonboom.
RESPONSE
In response to this theme, I used a simple circle as the protagonist. The smaller circle is chased by the larger circle and finally becomes part of the larger circle. I want to use this chase process to convey an abstract idea: everything will go with the flow and eventually be swallowed, and this is an endless loop. Just like the class in society or the molecules in physics. It is also like infinite in the universe. When people think of the Milky Way galaxy is a huge, but it may well just drop in the ocean.
By exploring the animation,I feel like using the abstract method to show a complex problem can be expressed simply.
