Context:

My response to this theme is to design a dynamic ball. On a 3 by 3 chessboard, a ball with forward momentum fell. Each grid has a different direction of force, which can be changed by rotating. If the force of the ball and the force of the grid are in the same direction, the ball will accelerate, while the opposite direction will decelerate. On two sides of the grid, the balls with boundaries cannot pass, and the balls without boundaries on the other two sides will fall. Players need to find a way to rotate the grid so that the ball can smoothly reach the end from the starting position, and also control the speed so that the ball does not cross the boundary.  This prototype is inspired by 3d pinballs, which accelerate when they hit the corners and slow down when they collide around. Players need to collide as many times as possible to get points. And the game board also has a variety of different mechanisms, acceleration, hyperspace and so on. What I think is to simplify some details, so that the force of the ball itself is linked to the speed, and the player achieves the goal by manipulating the speed and direction. Just like on a running escalator, if you continue walking in the direction of the elevator, you can reach the target faster, and if you go retrograde, it is not only slow but also may cause undesirable consequences.

method:

I originally designed a conveyor belt, and the ball has no forward momentum. Players need to rotate the button in the middle to adjust the direction of the grid. Each time the grid is rotated, it will rotate 90 degrees clockwise. But I found that in this case, only the grid itself is used for force and the ball is ignored. So after thinking about it, I decided to give the ball itself motivation and control it through speed.

reflection:

I think pinball is a very fascinating electronic machine, with very high texture and exquisiteness, and it can even be called a work of art. I have seen their entities, with baffles on both sides, players need to shake the machine to change the trajectory of the ball and hit the target. This is very interesting. I think that in the future development, the game board can become closer to the pinball table, adding more controllable elements and levels, maybe there will be holes in a grid, and the ball needs to accelerate through, a certain grid There is a bouncing ball that needs to slow down and bypass. These are all things I need to consider
