Theme: Tinkering
Method: (EDIT/UPDATE) We can tinker with materials, objects, and ideas. In this exercise, I related this task to studio 3. I played with stillness and subtle movement for this exercise. I am going to create a funny weird human character standing and breathing heavily using Maya software.
Context: Edit/update: I got inspired by Oliver Latta, known as Extraweg on Instragram. He is a 3D director who creates thought-provoking animations of a human character. His work is inspired by everyday situations. Oliver plays with humans and human body parts. He plays with them in a way that is uncertain. Oliver's goal is to provoke sensations and emotions in the viewers, to force them to think for themselves. https://joyenergizer.com/extraweg-creates-strangely-addictive-mind-bending-animations-just-cant-stop-watching/
Response/Reflection: (EDIT/UPDATE) I created this type of animation in Maya. There are so much tools in Maya in which I haven't explored yet. This task helped me to play and experiment the tools around. I faced many difficulties to get this result. Sometimes the character would just fall out of the planar object. So in order for the character to stay in one position I added gravity. I wanted my animation to look funny just like my inspiration. So I decided to create wobbly animation movements by increasing the pressure. The result of my animation turned out to be really funny and this exercise gave me many ideas of what I could do for my Studio 3 project.
This exercise is related to play as a way to experiment with new and unexpected directions of animation. I played with the character and the movement of the motion aesthetics.
