CONTEXT:

In response to this week's theme "play and object", my intention was to create a "morphling" object that changes it shapes. Unfortunately, after trials and errors, I am stuck at the error side of this project. My computer aren't strong enough to recreate a morphling effect using the particle effects on blender.

Instead of creating a morphling effect, I improvised and experiment with the particle and explode modifiers instead and created an exploding sphere, revealing a glass CHAIR!

I was inspired by tutor4u video where he explains the idea of transforming object through particle effects. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j4k7zClCcE8&t=612s

METHOD:

The whole progress of this experiment was using Blender. As i said before in the context, I tried and experimented the concept of morphling objects using the particle system in Blender.

For the sphere, I used a particle emitter on the mesh but hiding their rendered particles. Instead of using the particle object emitting through the sphere, I used the particle emitter as a guide for the Explode modifier so that the sphere is able to divide itself around it as seen in the video. The particle emitter are there as a pin point of where the explode modifier is suppose to be. Setting the particles physics to a gravity amount of 0 (none) to ensure that it doesn't fall off.

I also added Turbulence to blow the particles away and guide them away from each other.

REFLECTION:

As much as I thought this was a failed experiment, I do still think it's helpful for me. I learned the strengths and weaknesses of my computer's capability and I also learned more about the ever growing particle system in Blender.

I also came to a realisation that following tutorials will not appears as shown on the tutorials. We need to experiment and learn from our trials and errors so that we're able to understand our mistakes.
