Context

Music played by nature (http://listeningtothepast.com.au/2017/10/telegraph-poles-wind-instruments/)

I always wondered about the sound I hear in open spaces where there are lots of light poles or other tall metal poles. When it is windy, except the sound of the wind, we hear a sort of eerie sound coming from those poles, sounds almost like a flute. It seems nature is creating a symphony out of these poles like the wind is trying to play with objects.

Method

I commute from Tarneit. When it is windy, I hear this type of sound coming from the many light poles that are in the parking plot of Tarneit Station, although, not so sure if it is the poles and signboards or something else. But, as it gets windier, the sound becomes more audible.

I believed, maybe it was just this place that was kind of creepy, but I went to other places where there were large open areas and lots of metal poles, the sound was quite prominent in these areas. However, the tone or the pitch of the sound varied based on the materials that were causing the sound.

Response

Record some sound samples that demonstrate the sound played by nature through these type of objects.

Reflection

Very old school, I waited a couple of days when it gets windy, went to the station, recorded the sound on my phone.

I tried a few times recording this, unfortunately, was able to get only one decent sample. Sorry for the low quality and windy noise, but this 'eerie' sound created by these poles can be heard on a good headphone.
