APD- week 11

Theme: Play and stillness

Content：

The main inspiration comes from Naked Cherry’s loop animation. Her works have a unique personal style and have been shown in the form of loop animation. In this animation, the character does not move, the change of the shadow on his face makes the picture vivid. This approach accentuates the static atmosphere. I think this idea is unique. Stillness is not a complete stillness, but a foil to stillness through other changes.

Method:

Use to Clipstudio to paint, add background sound in premiere.

Response：

When I see the theme of stillness, the first thing I think about is what kind of environment can make me feel quiet or still. I think of a sunny afternoon when I had a quiet rest at home and the coffee next to me was full of fragrance. I think this scene is a good expression of stillness.

For the design of the characters, I put my most realistic look at home in the animation, such as meatball head, sweater, and round glasses. For the background design, I rearranged the furniture in my home into the animation. In terms of color design, I chose warm colors to set off the warm atmosphere of the animation.

The coffee cup in the lower right corner is the highlight of the animation. Even when nothing else is moving, the aroma of the coffee brings the picture to life.

Reflection：

I was surprised by the result of the animation, because it was not very complicated overall, and I was not sure that the animation would end up looking like what I had imagined. After adding music, I feel the animation is vivid, which makes me confused between the animation and the real world.

I never wanted to set off the whole thing with a small gesture, but it worked surprisingly well. Technically speaking, I think this kind of small action to set off the overall environment can be applied to more animation, especially when it reflects the quiet atmosphere.

I also got a lot of fun by drawing this loop animation, which gave me a chance to experience the details of life carefully. A warm afternoon can be used as the animation material. I like to make animation in this way, which makes me feel that animation comes from life and is a way to record life. By looking at the details of life, I think we can make more animations that can make people look warm.
