Master Of Animation, Games & Interactivity

Theme:

Make an archival object that collects your 'objects' together with an over-arching rationale and reflection of your collection.

Context:

I was inspired by real world games, like CluedUpp , Escape Rooms and of course, works by Helen Kwok.

For this work I was contemplating the cycle of life, as well as the dance between chaos and order found not only in our finite lifespans as individuals, but also in play (just as Miguel Sicart discusses in Play Matters).

I wondered too, how much play is a mode of survival vs how much survival is a mode of play? This, we will never fully understand, just as we will never know what came first: The chicken, or the egg? ;)

As many of my responses this semester have involved surprise, camaraderie and meaning, I wanted to incorporate these things into this archival piece of work.

Response:

Please see the video documentation of the 'Find the Eggs' game (to 'Unlock the Video Trailer' game).

Reflection:

This game is the Proof of Concept for a game I would love to build on in future.

At the minimum, I would add  ‘rotten eggs’ into the mix to send people off track!
