Theme: Place

Method: Thinkering, Experimentation, Relational Art, Observation.

Context: VR experimentation and first steps through 360 degrees painting.

Response:

This project represented a huge challenge for me. I wanted to take advantage of this premise in order to experiment with VR and artificial places in order to create an unusual experience, more sensitive than anything else, where the viewer will have to be very careful and focus on every detail on the surroundings.

At the same time, the creation of this piece and virtual environment will be an observation and interaction with the place and space experience for me as well as I was going to create (paint) this virtual place on a 360 degrees view, allowing me to experiment this “everything is your canvas” concept for the first time.

I knew that there is something already where you can actually do this, but I’ve never done it before. I found this premise very attractive as it left the 2D support paradigm outside of the equation, encouraging the user to go beyond. Stop thinking about the limits of a 2D space.

Creating this illustration was a bit difficult for me as I had to find the way to learn how to paint on and through a 3D space, and I do not have any experience at all with this field, not even with 3D modelling. However, it proposed challenges that pushed me to my limits and forced me to go out of my comfort zone.
