This work, which is also my studio 1’ s folio work, based on the premis “ a boy breakdown because of the pressure”, is a short animation which examines idea of sounds can help telling the story.

In this animation there is only a background music in it, by using this I hope to find a way without dialogue but also can show the feeling of the character. So I think it is important to choose a suitable music which can matched with the emotion change with the character.

When choosing the music I collected some references like mob 100%, prayer X and thought of you, then I think it might can start with the story, so divided the story into two parts, the first part is when the character accumulate emotions so I think the music can ‘ t be so intense, and as the level of pressure goes high I hope the beat of music become faster to create an intense atmosphere. Then the second part is about release the pressure, so the music can have more beat and faster than the early part (can see in the audio track in the pictures). Besides, according to the story, the melody of the background music should be more depressive than brisk. And when there has some movement of the prop, like picture 2 the dialogue box explode, there also a match with the beat of the music.

By examining the idea of sounds can help story telling, I reflected that sounds can add extra point to an animation, a good sound choose can bring the audience into the plot and give them a foresee with the coming story.
