This work examines the idea of this week is External Manifestations of the Internal State. This topic means we could bring the internal world of the character to the outside. We also learned a lot about character design this week.
The idea I had was “The brush loses hair every day,” A hairbrush worked well everyday, when he worked hard, those hairs would be pulled out by him everyday. Those hairs hate the hair brush and get ready to take revenge on him. Because the hairbrush took and killed their friends everyday. So they have an idea. They were designed to be messy and hug each other so that seems no one could let them leave. They did it. The hairbrush cannot go through and smooth the hair so he tries to work harder, but he does not succeed and he uses all the power he has, but he loses his “hair”, the one tooth of comb. He tried every day and lost every day. Now, He loses his hair everyday. That is hairs’ revenge.
A similar work called "The Matchbook." made by Xero Shorts' (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wN0g9Xk0om0) This animation shows a matchbook abandoned by everyone, but only a freezing little girl would like to accept his match, so he sacrificed himself to warm the girl and let her go through the painful night.
I was inspired by this short film, about how to make a hairbrush alive and found out his story. The character is simple and normal, it is the thing that we could see and use everyday. But the personality and behind story is what I am thinking about when I do this thing. That is how I design this character and story.
