Master Of Animation, Games & Interactivity

Class summary:

In this week, we talked about the definition, expression and role of time in narrative. Timing is very important in a story. The same sentence, spoken at different speeds, can change the feeling of the story. When I do animation, the speed of movement is not constant.  Sometimes the story needs a pause, but sometimes it needs acceleration. Time is expressed in the form of acceleration, deceleration, going back in time, loops, freezes, skips. The various forms and variations of time abstraction can be shown in animation.

Story:

  1. He started playing on his phone at 1:00 am when he was getting ready for bed
  2. He played until 3:00 am His attention was sucked into his phone.
  3. He slowly pulled away from his phone at 4:30 in the morning.
  4. He finally pulled himself away from his phone, but it was 5:00 a.m.

In response to this week's theme, I chose to freeze and accelerate to create the story.

In real life, people feel time flies when they are doing what they love. Time seems to drag on doing the hard things. For example, a fearful person enters a party where there are many strangers. Maybe every minute was a struggle for him. I chose the theme of playing mobile phones. Because a lot of people when playing mobile phones, there will often be a very early time before playing mobile phones, but unconsciously past one or two hours of the situation occurs.
