WK 2

For my first week were tasked to write premise wiki, I wrote a broken jack in the box, roams through a messy junkyard, in search for a coiled spring to replace it with another. I wanted to develop this idea, using the metaphor for something or someone is broken, and tries to adapt to their predicament, also wanted convey character without purpose. I wanted to develop the story into a science fantasy setting, where there is flying cars, extravagant skyscrapers, and robots. a lot of visual would be taken from Tezuka Osamu art style, he was the father of manga and created the iconic character Astro boy, this style is appealing for storytelling. Osamu had great eye for composition, he used a lot of film techniques burrowed from French and German films, Tezuka has strong sense for storytelling and character design for animation and will be beneficial for my process

WK 3

This week we got into groups to get feedback on our wiki premise we had to write for this week. The premise needed to suggest a question/problem/conflict/contradiction to tell a story. My premise this time was What if a giant kaiju/monster was angry with all the noise pollution, began wreaking havoc in a city filled with anthropomorphic sheep because it just wants to get some sleep. My group members thought it was fun premise, and wondered if I could integrate the way to resolve story using the visual idea of the monster counting the sheep which would cause it to go back to sleep, this was good way to use all elements of that I had created to conclude it. I found a lot of the feedback giving each other resolutions for our premises which contrast with the main conflict, I am hoping this can help me with my own story that I am developing for Animated narratives

WK 5

This week we put in groups to discuss and develop a short story treatment based on one of the wiki premises we chose Xinye’s a penguin wants a holiday in Hawaii, we wrote a story treatment.

Story treatment

a penguin, after seeing it on a littered postcard he longs to travel to Hawaii for a vacation. Peng goes to the local airport only to find out he cannot afford it. He finds a dog carrier in the airport which he jumps into it and then gets taken onboard.

While in the cargo, the temperature starts to drop and the animals in storage start shivering except for the penguin.

The penguin is carried off the plane. When outside its revealed that it’s in Antarctica.  The penguin tries make do with environment and sets his vacation here instead, he makes an ice-sculpted deck chair under the shade of a snow-made palm tree.
