Week 12 - Final

This week we reviewed all the elements we have explored this term, including light, characters, time, dialogue and more. The premise I contributed to the channel was: ‘A landline feels too boring since everybody uses mobile phone right now, to makes itself looks busy, he always calls his own number, therefore he can hear "Sorry, the number you called was busy, please try again later”. ‘With this premise I was thinking about using sounds as my main elements. The final version of the story will be like:

‘you are my, my, my, my~’ a burst of pop music rang out, it was a mobile phone singing loudly. ‘Is this the ring tone of the phone?’ The landline in the corner looked at the cell phone that was singing enviously and curiously. The landline was covered with a layer of dust, and even some of the keys were rusted. Since people started to use cell phones, the landline has been completely forgotten. Another pop song plays again. The cell phone sings different songs every day and it is so busy that sometimes will sing all afternoon. However, it's been a long time since the landline has sung. And the landline is not good at singing, it will only ever sing the same song, and only the same tone loop over and over again. At that moment, the cell phone that was singing suddenly stopped and the whole screen went black without any response. ‘Ling-ling-ling-ling’, finally, the landline opened its mouth to sing, although not as good as pop music, but he was still very happy to finally have the opportunity to let everyone hear its song.

As a reference work for this topic, I want to introduce a gorgeous work called Hello by Jonathan Nix. [Hello by Jonathan Nix | Animated Short Film (shortoftheweek.com)], It is a lovely animation. I can feel the struggling and depression of the cassette player. Although it is a love story, but it really reminds us that with the development of technology, we gradually forgot those items that we used before.
