Master Of Animation, Games & Interactivity

For Week 3 we explored structures for story-telling. I chose to focus on an interactive form and decided to recycle an old gameplay idea as a narrative. This story examines the themes of mental illness and how if caught early they can be saved, but if left to foster, it may lead to a tragedy.

The summarized description of the thumbnails are as follows;

  • An angel-nurse is smiling and happy while talking to the patient/player.
  • As the days pass, her smile disappears, her feathers start falling out and her halo begins to crack.
  • In the final day 'X', the angel would either 'fall from grace' or fly to freedom depending on the choices the player made.

Through the use of storyboard, I was able to stage the scenes well and illustrate the differences of the character depending on the choices picked by the player.

I was inspired by the game Danganronpa in the way its characters change their physical characteristics depending on the point in time the story’s at.

I took the concept of character change over time and incorporated it into my storyboard to better illustrate the change happening in an interactive environment.I tried to make the story have the same setup and middle, but have different endings to express the interactivity.
