Master Of Animation, Games & Interactivity
  • DAY 8 Today’s List of things to do:
  • I started coding the mechanic of picking up the keys, the player needs to go through the object and the object will then follow.
  • Make the Finish line planet move so it won’t be in the same place all the time.
  • Bug fix problems.
  • Start Coding if player picks up keys and get to the planet display the player # wins game.
  • End of Day what was done:
  • After I started coding the follow script for the keys after the player goes through the object I started to realize that the mechanic even though after I pitch it to Chris and  few people in the studio it felt that is a bit too complicated, and after I remembered what I read from Chris Crawford, Kaho Abe and watching the soccer tournament that is happening back home in Colombia ( American Cup), I started thinking of how can I make the mechanic the same but a bit more simpler, so I decided to make the mechanic you only have to pick up one key or Cube and whoever gets to the finish line planet first with the cube wins, but the other player has to try to take the cube in order for him to win.
  • At the end I made that the Cube will follow whoever picks it up first, but still has some problems, if both players pick up the cube at the same time a bug of cube starts following a middle point in relation where the two players are appear.
  • At the same time, I didn’t finish the part of the game of whoever player gets to finish line with cube, display player # wins.

  • DAY 9 Today’s List of things to do:
  • Start and finish Coding if player picks up keys and get to the planet display the player # wins game.
  • User Testing.
  • Bug Fixes.
  • Fix Slider Problem from week 1.
  • Code if Player # hits a button it will show the complete map in their screen, but it will only show while they have the button pressed down and while is been shown the player cannot see the player screen (risk/reward Mechanic).
  • End of Day what was done:
  • At the end of the day I got to do almost everything of the level design but I had a lot of problems to make it work and lost a lot of time, with the help of Hizi and Nick at the end, the level design mechanic got finished before presentation, but I couldn’t do the user testing.
  • Seeing all the problems I had while designing this multiplayer mechanic of the game and the level for it has made me understand, that I have to revisit my code and make it cleaner so I don’t face this type of problems.
  • I couldn’t finish the last mechanic of, if Player # hits a button it will show the complete map in their screen, but it will only show while they have the button pressed down and while is been shown the player cannot see the player screen (risk/reward Mechanic).
