Day 6

Folio1 review: I made a rough layout of the scene in Blender for the folio 1 submission. I have only created some of the major assets such as the dragon, rocks, the boat, while the other assets are still in rough shape.

Expecting outcome: Today I am going to develop the models of the other assets and polish them.

This week, I’m going to focus on the ‘Methods’ and ‘Outcome’. My plan is attached below.

Method: I’m using Blender and Zbrush to create models and set up the scene.

The context and expected outcome for the folio2:

  • Inspirational work: by Emma Koch (@emmakoch on Twitter)

  • Inspirational work: by Suzuka Ka (@chocoboflo on Twitter)

  • The BNPR Show #3: Filters – by Blender NPR (The artworks in this video are referenced in this video.)

Rationale: The rationale that I want to talk about here is the design of the tail. I received feedback from my peer that the boot doesn’t seem to be grabbed by the dragon’s tail. So I made two versions of how it grabs the boot. Then I chose the second version because it is curving and looks more like a creature. The other objects are remaining the same as the drawing. I also scaled up the boat as another comment mentioned.
